Tour Messina Costa Navarino

The Messina Venice

Group trip to the authentic Peloponnese and Costa Navarino

September 27 – October 2 | 6 days / 5 nights
There are places in Greece that are worth visiting. And then there are places that, once discovered, make you want to return.

Meanwhile, Messinia is another quest.

It's a surprisingly authentic Greece, made up of small villages, squares, olive groves, seaside taverns, and wonderful beaches. My view of the landscape of Costa Navarino, with your international resort, your golf course, your restaurant, and your daily surroundings are very interesting.

And then there's the history. For those of us who love following the traces left by the Serenissima in the Mediterranean, Messinia is fascinating. Methoni and Koroni were two key strategic points for Venice for centuries.

Authentic Greece and Karlitalia take you for six days to the Messinia we truly know: history, sea, extra virgin olive oil, good food, and that little touch of trendy that is now part of Costa Navarino.

🧿 Our authentic Messiah, with our little one today
Costa Navarino hasn't erased Messinia's character. And that, in our opinion, is precisely the best thing about it.

In just a few kilometers, you can go from an elegant beach club to a taverna where you can still eat as they once did. You can sip a cold espresso under the large plane trees in Pylos square, stroll among the walls of a Venetian castle, stop for lunch by the sea, and, shortly after, find yourself among thousands of olive trees.

Messinia has both souls. And we want you to experience them both.

The program

🧿 September 27 – Welcome to Messinia

Departure with a direct Ryanair flight from Bergamo to Kalamata. Upon arrival, you'll pick up your rental car directly at the airport and head towards Methoni.

Accommodation in a boutique hotel with a wonderful view of the sea. And then? First, lunch in a beach bar affair overlooking the sea. We are in Greece, after all, and we have no intention of rushing this vacation.

A visit to the magnificent Methoni Castle, including a visit to the best examples of Venetian presence in the Peloponnese.

We'll end the day with a Greek welcome aperitif. Free evening.

🧿 September 28 – Pylos, Gialova, and Voidokilia

We'll start in Pylos, with a stroll through its splendid square. And of course, there'll be time for a cold espresso in the shade of the enormous plane trees. Quiet time and peace to sit and look around.

We'll continue towards Gialova, the lagoon, and the coast of Navarino. In my opinion, it's possible to have a nice look on the other side of Paleokastro, so you can see Navarino Bay and the famous and spectacular beach of Voidokilia.

Lunch at a local taverna, and in the afternoon, time for the sea and to enjoy Voidokilia.

Free evening.

🧿 September 29 – The Green Gold of Messinia

Messinia without olive oil? Impossible.

According to your criteria for your Olive Oil Tasting Experience, you will be guided by your Oil Sommelier qualification. Not because of the quality of the oil, but also because of the quality and difference of extra virgin olive oil.

And yes, it can be a surprising experience even for us Italians.

After lunch at a local taverna, the afternoon is free. Those who wish can head to Agora in Costa Navarino to discover the other side of Messinia: boutiques, restaurants, cafes, yachts, and a decidedly international atmosphere.

Free evening.

🧿 September 30 – Navarino from the sea

Today we change perspective and discover Navarino Bay from the sea.

During the boat excursion, we will, of course, also talk about the famous Battle of Navarino of 1827, one of the key events in the history of modern Greece.

But it won't be a floating history lesson: there will also be time to swim, relax, and simply enjoy the sea.

Lunch by the sea and free evening.

🧿 October 1 – Koroni, the other Eye of the Serenissima

After Methoni, Koroni is a must.

Methoni and Koroni were two very important strategic ports for Venice along the routes to the eastern Mediterranean. Today, Koroni is a small, atmospheric centerpiece, with alleys, colorful houses, sea views, and a grand castle overlooking the town.

We'll stroll through the historic center and visit the castle. Then, lunch by the sea, because this part of Greece really seems like the perfect place to do so.

Free afternoon and evening.

🧿 October 2 – Ancient Messene and Kalamata

The ultimate story is dedicated to the great sorority of the Peloponnese: Ancient Messene.

One of the archaeological sites with lasting impressions of Greece. The theater, stadium, agora, temples, and large sections of the ancient city still allow us to understand how people lived here more than two thousand years ago.

After the visit, we'll have lunch and continue to Kalamata, the capital of Messinia. Free time to stroll downtown, do some shopping, or enjoy a last coffee or Greek aperitif.

Never mind the traffic at all the airports, the car, and full Ryanair direct to Bergamo.

Six full days. And above all, six very Messinian days.
