Walking through Methoni Castle I can almost hear the sea crashing against the walls  and feel the centuries of history surrounding me . The Venetians left behind power and grandeur...

For almost four centuries (1209–1500, and briefly again in the 17th century) they ruled here, turning Methoni into one of their most important strongholds in the Mediterranean. At its height, around 2,000–3,000 people lived within these mighty walls

For me, it’s both fascinating and emotional to stand here, imagining the lives once lived in this place.
